About Matahau
Matahau began as more than a name — it is an idea.
We searched for something that wouldn't be technical or generic, but would carry real meaning: direction, change, a personal journey. We found it in the languages of the Pacific, where words are woven into nature, motion, and navigation.
The name joins two Polynesian roots:
- matato see, to perceive, to become aware
- hauwind, breath, motion, energy
Together, they describe the ability to sense change and respond to it. Not force. Not control. The clarity to understand a situation, adapt, and continue in the right direction.
It's a philosophy that extends beyond technology. We apply it when building products — and when deciding where to go next.
What we build
At Matahau, we build tools that help people move forward.
Our first product is FitChat — an AI assistant that simplifies food tracking and helps people make better decisions, every day.
